The ARMA Vancouver Chapter aims to promote the education and professional development of its members. Therefore, the chapter has established an annual professional development bursary. Chapter members may apply to obtain the bursary, or a portion of the bursary, in order to participate in an educational activity that would otherwise be unavailable to them. By allowing one or more chapter members each year to participate in an educational activity, the chapter will meet the goal of enabling members to enhance their knowledge of records and information management and career development within the profession.
ARMA Vancouver Chapter members are invited to apply for financial support from the bursary for a wide variety of educational activities.
Examples of suitable activities include:
- credit or non-credit courses,
- attendance at seminars and conferences, and
- other training events where the topic is an aspect of information management.
The bursary may be applied to registration and fees and to travel expenses at economy rates. The Board of Directors will set the maximum amount for the bursary on an annual basis.
The 2008-2009 Chapter bursary is $500.
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be members in good standing of the Vancouver Chapter. Preference will be given to members who do not obtain corporate support for educational activities, although each application will be judged on its own merit.
Process and Criteria for the Award

The form includes: description of the proposed activity, budget and cost requirements, and benefits the member expects to obtain by participating in the event. Applications may be submitted up to April 30 each fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). A decision will be made within 30 days or sooner.
