WHINING ABOUT RECORDS CONFERENCE, KELOWNA, OCTOBER 12 - 15, 2010

Join us for the first Mountain Pacific Canada Region conference - a partnership between the Vancouver, Calgary and Vancouver Island chapters. It is intended to provide an opportunity for members and non-members from a variety of professional backgrounds/levels to expand their Records and Information Management (RIM) knowledge, meet with exhibitors, and network with their peers.

We are pleased to announce Dr Mark Langemo, CRM and Christa Williams (First Nations Public Service) as the keynote speakers.

There are three educational tracks - Basic RIM, Electronic Document Management and a Specialized track concentrating on RIM for First Nations Organizations as well as Sustainability.

Early bird registration is open until September 12.

A Special Committee of the Legislature just completed the third review of BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Submissions were made by a wide range of stakeholders, including the Law Society of BC, the Canadian Bar Association and BC Civil Liberties Association.

The Committee's final report to the BC Legislature on May 31 contains sweeping recommendations for amendments to the Act that could reconfigure privacy and freedom of information rights in the province.

Speakers and panelists at the 2010 BC Information Summit will highlight and debate the most important issues and recommendations that are on the table following the legislative review.

The conference will feature the maiden speech of BC's new Information and Privacy Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham.
